Joining the West Des Moines Chamber provides us with a phenomenal opportunity to connect with West Des Moines’ top businesses and help the ARL spread its services to West Des Moines!

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa is excited to share ARL Club WDM, a new ARL dog adoption location, has opened in West Des Moines! The location is a partnership between the ARL and Canine Country Club located on Delavan Drive. Up to 30 dogs will be available at this location, expanding adoption opportunities into West Des Moines and opening up space at our main campus to help even more animals in need.

The ARL serves people and pets from across the state of Iowa through its programs, which include pet adoption, humane education, pet behavior training, spay/neuter, animal cruelty intervention and much more. We believe companionship is important and want to bring more opportunities to the West Des Moines community.

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa receives no state, federal, or United Way funding, so we rely on caring people in the community to support our life-changing work. The support we’ve received from the WDM community including awarding us with Best of the West Best Nonprofit 2024, has left a positive impact on the thousands of pets who enter our doors each year!

1. 1. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa serves pets as small as hamsters and as large as horses.
   2. Since it’s opening in October, ARL Club WDM has adopted out over 50 dogs who were looking for homes, but we have many more who’d love a family to cuddle.
   3. In 2026, the ARL will celebrate their 100^th year of protecting the welfare of animals, preserving the human-animal bond, and preventing the overpopulation of companion animals!
