  • Professional Development Co-Chair (2 positions open)
  • Social Events Co-Chair

Role Descriptions

The Chair is the leaders of all-things-West-YP. They meet with the Chamber lead monthly to plan the monthly agenda and ensure all teams have the support they need to thrive and make West YP the incredible program it is. The Chair keeps the team engaged, connected to the mission and best practices, and actively looks for ways to elevate the experience for both the committee and all members. The Chair also welcomes members to all events and leads the monthly team meetings. The Chair may be included in sub-committee meetings as needed.

The Vice Chair leads a lot of the accountability for the team by taking notes on and sharing a list of action items after the monthly team meetings. The Vice Chair often supports any special projects, ensures the committee has quarterly team outings, and helps plan the bi-annual retreats. They also oversee the recruitment efforts for committee roles ahead of the Annual Fall Planning Retreat so new leaders are able to join for that before beginning in January.

The Past Chair serves in an advisory-based role, assisting the Chair and Vice-Chair (Exec Team) as needed. The Past Chair often supports any special projects, ensures the committee has quarterly team outings, and helps plan the bi-annual retreats.

The membership team consists of four leaders who work together to actively recruit and welcome young professionals to join West YP.

The Member Engagement Lead oversees the renewal process, points tracking system, and annual membership survey.

The New Member Engagement Lead manages the West YP membership database, onboarding communications, and New Member Meet Up events.

The Recruitment Lead plans the Information Session events, Membership Referral Program, and connects with guests and non-members.

The Ambassador Lead works with a group of leaders selected from Business Package members (businesses with 5+ YPs) to build engagement across larger organizations.

The two Professional Development Co-Chairs are responsible for coordinating the development events throughout the year. This can range from working with Professors from Event Partner ISU Ivy College of Business to building panels for other events. The goal is to have West YP members walk away with insight from speakers they can apply to their personal and professional lives. These leaders will also help lead the conversation for the future year’s programming planning.

The two Social Co-Chairs are responsible for coordinating the social events throughout the year. These have a focus on networking while providing a memorable experience to the young professionals. These leaders will also help lead the conversation for the future year’s programming planning.

This is currently a one-person team where the Philanthropy Chair is responsible for coordinating two annual drives for members, an annual leadership team volunteer activity, and working with the marketing team to produce the Nonprofit Booklet each fall that is a year-round resource for young professionals looking to get involved with the community.

The marketing team consists of six leaders who work together to promote the West YP program and the members who make it so wonderful.

The Marketing Chair leads communication for marketing efforts. They prepare the monthly sub-committee meeting agendas and leads those discussions in addition to reporting back at the full West YP team each month. They keep engagement and accountability high and aim to build efficient processes and streamlined communication.

The Design Lead is the graphic designer for West YP who helps create a professional and engaging brand for the program. This includes design work for social media posts, event marketing materials, the annual Nonprofit Booklet, program promotional items, and more.

The two Social Media Leads build the social media calendar and execute across the WDM Chamber platforms as well as the separate West YP platforms.

The Newsletter Lead curates the content for the monthly West YP newsletter. This is where members receive information such as event recaps and photos, upcoming event information, leadership or spotlight opportunities, recreational ideas, and more.

The WDM Watch List Lead oversee the selection and produces the written content for this monthly spotlight opportunity for members.

The Video Lead is the videographer for West YP. This is a specialty role where the leader uses their own equipment but has creative freedom to create promotional videos such as event recaps and an annual highlight reel.
