WDM Day of Kindness

Alumni of the WDM Leadership Academy embraced the program’s priority of positively impacting the community when they created this initiative in 2021. They recognize the importance of kindness, now more than ever. Small acts of kindness can make the biggest difference in someone’s life.

Day of Kindness has since gone statewide with Governor Kim Reynolds and West Des Moines Mayor Russ Trimble, past WDMLA graduate, signing proclamations. We look forward to this again this year.

We challenge all West Des Moines community members and Iowans everywhere to be intentional with acts of kindness on February 23, 2024.

Pay it forward in your line for coffee, show appreciation for our frontline workers, shovel a neighbor’s driveway, send a thoughtful text to someone who might need some positive words.

We held a Day of Kindness Drive collecting new socks. These were donated to WDM Human Services through WDMLA Alum Mick Grossman’s “Socks of Love” project. Learn more here.

Big or small, monetary or action-oriented, anonymous or direct…let’s make a difference on February 23. Get ready for Day of Kindness, Iowans! #WDMkind #IowaKind
