Standout leader from the community featured each month
Brooke Preston, Owner of Bloom Chiropractic Co., is a standout young professional in the community. She is certified by the academy council of chiropractic pediatrics—meaning she has over 200 extra training hours, passed a difficult exam, and contributed to research on the topic.
In 2018, Brooke received a national scholarship given to one individual per year who exhibits leadership within the chiropractic profession. She was selected out of a pool of over 400 applicants. She donated back part of the scholarship to her school, and now Northwestern Health Sciences University is able to host a career fair to match students with potential employers. She is in the University’s student leadership hall of fame.
Dating back to years prior, she grew up in Bancroft—a small community in north central Iowa. She attended a high school “in between two towns in the middle of a corn field!” She then went to college at Simpson. The friendships she made at Simpson were a big factor in choosing to come back to the greater Des Moines area after graduation. We’re so glad she did!
We love seeing Brooke’s connections flourish at West YP events. When asked about her favorite part of this program, she said that “Everyone has been so friendly. I already feel like I gained some genuinely great connections!” She added that “It’s fun getting to be involved with other people who are passionate about their careers but also value socializing and meeting new people.”
Brooke’s life motto is that helping others makes the world go round. “As a chiropractor, my favorite thing is getting to see people’s quality of life improve. Beyond their main complaint is usually some sort of experience or activity they can no longer have or do as a result of their body’s dysfunction. Getting to watch people return to the things they love and the experiences they want to have, and sometimes beyond, is truly an amazing and unique experience I am so grateful to be a part of everyday.”
In her free time, Brooke gets to guest lecture to chiropractors and chiropractic students about chiropractic technique and chiropractic pediatrics. She’s gotten to teach in Davenport, St. Louis, Dallas, and Madison, so far.
Brooke keeps plenty busy outside of her day job as well! She is a coach for Girls on the Run, a YMCA program where she helps teach 3rd – 5th grade girls about mental, emotional, and physical health before they run a 5K. Brooke is a runner and will be completing her 5th half marathon distance race at the 2022 Des Moines Women’s Half Marathon. She loves making big, fun fitness goals and can be found enjoying a spin class, sand volleyball, yoga, hiking, biking, paddle boarding, kayaking, and lifting. She especially loves the trails in the area and all the rentals at Raccoon River Park. When she’s not checking out the delicious food in the area, you can find her cooking and hanging out with her dog.
If you haven’t connected with Brooke yet, we highly recommend you do so. We can’t wait to watch you continue you grow and thrive, Brooke!
