2025 Workforce Survey Results: Report Hiring Demand, Skills Gaps & Youth Talent Pipeline Concerns

The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce has released the results of the 2025 Central Iowa Workforce Survey, providing an updated view of the region’s hiring trends, skills needs, and workforce challenges. The findings underscore both the strong employer demand expected in 2026 and the ongoing need for expanded talent development strategies, especially for youth and emerging workers.

“Businesses across Central Iowa are preparing for growth, but they continue to face real challenges in recruiting and developing talent,” said Katherine Harrington, President & CEO of the WDM Chamber. “The 2025 survey gives us clear insight into where the workforce is headed, and where regional coordination, education partnerships, and early pipeline development are urgently needed.”
