The Wasko Hardware & Cabinetry Story Celebrating 20 Years of Service—and a New Chapter in Carlisle

When Joe and Susan Wasko, alongside their children Jacob and Katie, opened Wasko Hardware, Inc. on May 4, 2005, in Keosauqua, Iowa, they brought more than 23 years of industry experience and a heartfelt dream: to create a family-owned hardware store rooted in service and community. Nearly two decades later, Wasko Hardware remains a staple of southeast Iowa—and on Saturday, May 3, 2025, the Wasko family will proudly celebrate their 20th anniversary in Keosauqua.

Before opening their own business, Joe spent over two decades managing a hardware store and kitchen and bath showroom. Many of the team members who worked alongside him there made the move to Wasko Hardware, bringing with them more than 70 combined years of expertise in hardware and cabinetry.

Wasko Hardware has flourished thanks to Joe and Susan’s hands-on management style and an unwavering focus on customer service. From the moment someone walks through the door, the team greets them like an old friend—offering personalized service, expert advice, and a full-service experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.

In recent years, the Wasko’s expanded their offerings by partnering with a highly skilled Amish cabinet maker in southeast Iowa. This partnership led to the creation of Wasko Cabinetry—a line of beautifully handcrafted, custom cabinetry made from premium solid wood. With a blend of traditional Amish craftsmanship and modern design technology, Wasko Cabinetry provides homeowners with personalized, durable solutions that go far beyond what you’ll find at a big box store.

In the fall of 2024, Joe and Susan opened a new showroom in Carlisle, Iowa—bringing their craftsmanship and commitment to quality to the Des Moines metro area. With their children and grandchildren living nearby, the Carlisle community felt like the perfect place to grow their family business.

The new Wasko Cabinetry showroom in Carlisle offers fully customizable cabinetry, Cambria quartz countertops, Karran sinks, and a curated selection of hardware. Using computerized renderings, the team helps bring your kitchen or bath vision to life. Delivery and installation services are available—or if you prefer, they’re happy to work with your chosen contractor.

Financing options are available, and flexible appointment times—both daytime and evenings—make it easy to get started. Or simply stop in to explore the showroom in person. No matter where you’re coming from, Wasko Cabinetry is here to help you create a kitchen or bath space you’ll love for years to come.
