Member Spotlight - Bloomingbeing

I moved back to Des Moines in May of 2025. I grew up here and moved to New York to study acting in 1991, which prompted me to start my career in massage therapy in Vermont in 1993. From there I kept on the move around the US. Carbondale, Colorado was my main hub, with extended time spent in various beautiful locations including San Francisco, where my study of Chi Nei Tsang (a Taoist hands on healing method focused on releasing stress from the vital organs) began in 2008. I started organizing retreats for my teacher, Gilles Marin, in Crestone, Colorado, where I met the love of my life who whisked me off to Sweden in 2012, where I lived until 2024 when I moved to Greece. The Greek connection came from a month long Chi Nei Tsang retreat I developed in 2017, which I am proud to say continues annually and attracts students from literally every continent except Antarctica (so far). I’ve always loved finding the root of what moves us humans, so I started to learn the approach to therapy that Gabor Maté developed called Compassionate Inquiry in 2023, and received a Grief Educator certificate from renowned teacher David Kessler in 2025 and have happily added Resilience Coaching to my tool kit. I am excited to share the skills, experience, and wisdom I’ve accrued over the years to help the residents of my hometown relax and reset!

WDM felt attractive to me because there’s an air of curiosity and a freshness of ideas. I like the sense of possibility and growth that’s here.

I am offering something I’m calling The Feast of Love: two elite licensed massage therapists come to you to give an in home 90 minute couple’s massage. While receiving your treatment, one of the chefs we collaborate with are in the kitchen preparing a meal that has been designed specifically for you according to not merely allergies, but taste palates and texture preferences. You simply roll off the massage tables in your robes, and float down to an exquisite meal, artfully prepared in your own kitchen by a certified chef.

As well as being the rare massage therapist who’s been in practice for over 30 years (and still loves her work), I am also the only Chi Nei Tsang practitioner in all of Iowa!

Well beyond the “customer is always right”, I understand that every person’s healing and wellness journey is their own and I’m there to support them, agenda free. I listen to what the body asks for and give attention and movement where it’s needed rather than dictating what the body “should” do. This philosophy allows my expertise to be used so that the person I’m working with has the opportunity to truly relax, which allows my clients to breathe, move, and think more freely.

Having returned after such a long absence, I think it’s so cool that the sweetness of the Midwest is still alive and at the same time sophistication is onboard. WDM’s embrace of art and culture is a joy to behold.

If you’re curious about the work I do and how it can make your life better, schedule a discovery call today!
